In 1924, van Doesburg rebelled against Mondrian’s programmatic insistence on the restriction of line to vertical and horizontal orientations, and began to produce "Counter-Compositions." His 1925-26 "Counter-Composition XIII" is part of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection
