Observingarts: Pipilotti Rist: The Shimmering Solution - The Tender Pixel Storm.

Pipilotti Rist: The Shimmering Solution - The Tender Pixel Storm
Installation with printed backlit screens, 1200 m2, Statoil, Fornebu, Oslo (2011)

I came across this monument the other day. The architecture of a-lab - "Five elements" - is so strikin it hardly allows for integration of artwork in the exterior. You are inside before you really have gotten to see Rist's enormous installation. Gazing to the sky from the ground in a transit area is awkward and leaves you with fractures of what should really be a great experience. The artwork becomes more of a gem for the building than an artwork in its own right. Size is not the only thing that matters.
